Robert Schumann (1810–1856) published his Album for the Young, op. 68 in 1848. Initially intended for his three daughters, it is a collection no contemporary piano student can avoid. Guitarists certainly could avoid this beautiful music, but given the small amount of top-quality classical repertoire, should we?
